- Traditionally was the men's country shoe
- tends to have a toe cap in a 'W' shape
- punched patterns round the toe cap and/or near the heel
- wear a nice tan pair to the races or a daytime picnic, function with a lighter coloured suit or blazer
- wear them without socks with shorts
- wear them with suit pants rolled up
